The Bangladeshi left-arm pacer was approched by Mumbai Indians followed by Kolkata Knight Rider as both of the franchiesies were having one of their pacer short.

The reason behind Mumbai Indians approaching Mustafizur Rahman was, the highest wicket-taker in IPL, Lasith Malinga has decided to not to play in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) because of some personal reasons.

It is understood Malinga's father has been ill and may require surgery in the coming weeks. Since he wanted to be with his father at home in Sri Lanka, he opted against travelling with Mumbai squad to Abu-Dhabi last month.

However, BCB refused the NOC since Bangladesh is set to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match test series, which is scheduled to begin on Octomber 24, at the time when IPL will be played in the UAE.

Mustafizur Rahman has already played for Mumbai Indians which is the reason why they approched him rather than any other bowler and his performance was good enough and the conditions in the UAE are helpful for Mustafizur Rahman.

Mustafizur's performance in the T20I against India turned out to be underwhelming as he picked only solitary wicket in the three games and has conceded runs at 9.51. He has played 24 IPL games and has taken 24 wickets at an average of 28.54.
